Mission

Bridging the worlds of scent and nostalgia, Double Inconstance was a conceptual perfume project blending the playful indulgence of Carambar with the bold irreverence of État Libre d’Orange. Designed to intrigue and provoke, the fragrance reimagined the mischievous joy of a childhood treat for a sophisticated, daring audience.

Impact

-
Luxury Meets Nostalgia – Created a perfume concept fusing candy’s playful essence with provocative perfumery.
-
Targeted an Older Market – Positioned as a ‘scandalous’ yet refined fragrance for those who embrace bold self-expression.
-
Parisian Collaboration – Developed and pitched multiple packaging concepts to both brands in Paris, 2020.

My services

-
Concept Development – Designed and presented diverse packaging concepts.
-
Brand Storytelling – Crafted a compelling narrative balancing mischief and luxury.
-
Creative Direction – Ensured visual identity aligned with both brands' distinct personalities.
-
Stakeholder Presentation – Delivered proposals in Paris to Carambar and État Libre d’Orange

Although the project was ultimately shelved due to last-minute investor withdrawal, it remains a testament to my ability to develop innovative brand collaborations and high-end packaging design.

The phrase “La Double Incon- stance” made me think of Yin & Yang. ‘Opposites’.
Instead of black & white, I wanted to play with Carambar’s red and yellow.
Instead of the typical Yin & Yang symbol, I wanted to play around with the different states the Car- ambar is in when chewed in your mouth. It takes up different forms and can symbolise humanity’s inconstancy.
Simplistic, abstract, 2D Caram- bar-inspired design with bite mark in carambar piece.
Played with yellow and red stripes as well as a reference to Caram- bar.
Show “hard” and “melted” state of carambar in design

La Double Inconstancy: 18th Cen- tury Play (Many play posters have Cupid on).
Cupid Image: Represents “old”, “hard-textured carambar”
Added flat, curved colour: Rep- resents “new”, “smelted caram- bar”
Symbolises ever-changing, double inconstance of humanity and how one can’t exist without the other.
Let’s play more with Delphine’s description. Strong, red, chic lips and two carambar sticks are dis- played.
The design goes well with the description as the two carambar sticks links with “Deux indispens- ables barres se rencontrent”
and the lips with “l’une qui colore les leÌ€vres” and “baÌ‚ton de rouge aÌ€ leÌ€vres”.

“The plain Jane”, chic design.
Black, White and a tint of red and texture. I also played around here with the different shapes the Car- ambar is in. It takes up different forms and can symbolise humani- ty’s inconstancy.
Recycling an old, Carambar Illus- tration.
Playing around with the idea of poetry/playwriting/letters - a per- fume with a romantic, yet poppy look and feel.
Tapping into the “playwriting” theme - the poetic essence of the perfume.
